5 Nights & 6 Days
Wildlife, Nature
Shillong, Cherrapunjee, and Guwahati are three of the most breathtakingly beautiful destinations in Northeast India. This carefully designed 5 Nights / 6 Days tour package takes you through misty highlands, living root bridges, crystal-clear rivers, and ancient temples that have been drawing travellers for generations. Whether you are seeking adventure, natural beauty, or a deeper connection with Northeast India’s rich tribal culture, this journey offers it all in a comfortable and well-organised way.
Starting with the scenic drive from Guwahati through the stunning Umiam Lake to Shillong, you will explore the famous Elephant Falls, Shillong Peak, and the iconic Police Bazaar. The tour then takes you to Cherrapunjee — one of the wettest places on Earth — for visits to Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters Falls, and the legendary Living Root Bridges. On your return, you will explore the cleanest village in Asia at Mawlynnong, the crystal-clear Umngot River at Dawki, and conclude with a visit to the sacred Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati.
Every day of this tour is thoughtfully planned so you can experience the raw natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of Shillong, Cherrapunjee, and Guwahati without feeling rushed. From misty morning waterfall visits to peaceful evenings by the Brahmaputra, here is exactly what your journey looks like.
Arrive at Guwahati Airport and get transferred directly toward Shillong via a scenic 120 km drive. En route witness the breathtaking Umiam Lake — Meghalaya's largest artificial lake — nestled beautifully amidst sylvan hills adorned with Khasi pines and peerless natural beauty. If time permits, visit the Cathedral of Mary and the serene Ward's Lake. Evening is free at leisure to explore Shillong on your own. Take a leisurely walk through the famous Police Bazaar for local shopping and street food. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee — approximately 60 km, 2 hours one way. En route visit the famous Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak for a stunning bird's eye view of the entire city. At Cherrapunjee, explore Mawsmai Cave, Mawsmai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, and the spectacular Nohkalikai Falls. After a relaxed lunch at Cherrapunjee, proceed to visit Arawah Cave, Koh Ramhah, and the serene Khrem Falls. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.
After breakfast, embark on an unforgettable trek to the Single or Double Decker Living Root Bridge — one of the world's most unique natural wonders. The single decker trek takes approximately 3 to 4 hours while the double decker requires 5 to 6 hours of trekking. The trail begins from Cherrapunjee and descends through lush green forest with relatively steeper steps in two short stretches. Return to the resort by evening and unwind with soothing local music performed by talented local musicians. Overnight at Cherrapunjee.
(Note: During rainy season, proper trekking gear is strongly recommended for safety.)
After breakfast, drive to Mawlynnong — Asia's cleanest village, lovingly known as God's Own Garden. With over 80 well-kept households, the village feels like walking through a perfectly maintained park. Climb the 80-foot Sky Walk for a bird's eye view of the village, surrounding plantations, and the distant plains of Bangladesh. Experience authentic Khasi culture, lifestyle, and their fascinating local economy up close.
Later trek to nearby Rewai Village to witness nature's wonder — the Living Root Bridge, formed by ancient intertwined roots capable of holding several people simultaneously. These bridges, over a hundred feet long, take ten to fifteen years to fully form but last an extraordinary 500 to 600 years.
Proceed to Dawki — a charming Jaintia community village famous for the crystal-clear Umngot River, whose waters are so transparent that boats appear to float in mid-air. Enjoy a thrilling country boat river ride and drive to the Bangladesh border. Later return to Shillong for overnight stay.
(Note: Mawlynnong village remains closed for visitors every Sunday.)
After breakfast, drive back to Guwahati and check in at your hotel. Visit the culturally rich Sankardev Kalakshetra — a major cultural institution celebrating Assamese art, craft, and heritage. In the evening, enjoy a scenic cruise along the mighty Brahmaputra River at your own cost — a serene and memorable experience on one of Asia's greatest rivers. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
(Note: River cruise availability depends on water levels. Kamakhya Temple VIP tickets must be booked online in advance directly.)
After breakfast, begin your final morning with a sacred and powerful visit to the renowned Kamakhya Temple — one of India's most revered Shakti Peethas, situated on the Nilachal Hills overlooking Guwahati. After seeking divine blessings, you will be transferred in time to Guwahati Airport for your onward journey home. End of Services.
