Shillong and Cherrapunjee are two of the most breathtakingly beautiful destinations in Northeast India. This carefully designed 3 Nights / 4 Days tour package takes you through misty highlands, cascading waterfalls, living root bridges, and crystal-clear rivers that have been captivating travellers for generations. Whether you are seeking natural wonder, cultural discovery, or a peaceful escape from city life, this journey offers it all in a comfortable and well-organised way.
Starting with the scenic drive from Guwahati to Shillong past the magnificent Umiam Lake, you will explore the famous Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak with its panoramic bird’s eye views. The tour then takes you to Cherrapunjee — one of the wettest places on Earth — for visits to Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters Falls, and the dramatic Nohkalikai Falls. On Day 3, you will discover Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village, trek to a living root bridge in Rewai Village, and be mesmerised by the crystal-clear Umngot River at Dawki, where boats appear to float in mid-air above the glassy water.
Every day of this tour is thoughtfully planned so you can experience the natural beauty and rich culture of Meghalaya without feeling rushed. From misty morning waterfall visits to peaceful evenings exploring Shillong’s vibrant bazaars, here is exactly what your journey looks like.
Arrive at Guwahati Airport and get transferred directly toward Shillong. En route, witness the stunning Umiam Lake — also called Barapani — the largest artificial lake in Meghalaya, nestled amidst sylvan hills adorned with Khasi pines and breathtaking natural beauty. If time permits, visit the Cathedral of Mary and Ward's Lake upon arrival. Evening is free at leisure — take a relaxed walk to the famous Police Bazaar for local shopping and street food. Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee — one of the rainiest and most scenic places on Earth. En route, visit the famous Elephant Falls and climb Shillong Peak for a stunning bird's eye panoramic view of Shillong city and surrounding valleys. At Cherrapunjee, explore Mawsmai Cave, Mawsmai Falls, the spectacular Seven Sisters Falls, and the dramatic Nohkalikai Falls — India's tallest plunge waterfall. After lunch, visit Arawah Cave, Koh Ramhah, and Khrem Falls. Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.
After breakfast, drive to Mawlynnong — Asia's cleanest village, lovingly called "God's Own Garden." With over 80 well-kept households, the village offers a uniquely serene and refreshing experience. Climb the 80-ft Sky Walk for a bird's eye view of the village, surrounding plantations, and the distant plains of Bangladesh. Get acquainted with authentic Khasi lifestyle, culture, and their centuries-old community practices.
Trek down nearly 100 steps to Rewai Village to witness nature's extraordinary wonder — the living root bridges. These ancient bridges, woven from massive intertwined tree roots by local Khasi people, can hold several people at once, stretch over 100 feet in length, and take 10 to 15 years to fully form. Their useful lifespan is believed to be 500 to 600 years — they grow stronger with time.
Later, drive to Dawki — a scenic riverside village of the Jaintia community. Be completely mesmerised by the crystal-clear Umngot River, so transparent that boats appear to float in mid-air above the glassy surface. Enjoy a relaxing country boat ride on the river. Drive up to the Bangladesh border for a unique cross-border experience. Proceed to Shillong for overnight stay.
⚠️ Note: Mawlynnong village remains closed for visitors every Sunday.
After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, check out and transfer comfortably to Guwahati Airport for your onward journey home with beautiful Meghalaya memories to cherish forever.

The country boat ride at Dawki on the famous crystal-clear Umngot River is optional and available at your own cost. However, we highly recommend this experience as it is one of the most breathtaking and unforgettable highlights of the entire Meghalaya tour.
The best time to visit Meghalaya is between October and April when the weather is pleasant, skies are clear, and waterfalls are at their most spectacular. Monsoon season from June to September brings heavy rainfall, making some routes difficult, though the landscape turns incredibly lush and green.
